HOURLY RATE:  $9.276


Under immediate supervision of the Executive Director and/or designee, the Receptionist/Clerk is responsible for general clerical practices and procedures. Organizes and implements a filing system, occasionally prepares recurring reports and records. Makes several decisions weekly requiring some interpretations and judgments. The position has daily contact with the public which requires simple courtesies and exercise of tact and diplomacy. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director and/or designee. Must be discrete and not disclose confidential information about new businesses that are in the planning stages.This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 


  • Must be able to work and deal with the public in a courteous and diplomatic manner.
  • Greets visitors to EDC Office, determine nature and purpose of visit, and directs them as appropriate.
  • Responsible for answering the telephone/radio and take messages as well as fax requirements.
  • Handle all information desk traffic; learn Department organization, programs, and policies.
  • Provides general information pertaining to the department.
  • Miscellaneous secretarial and extensive typing duties.
  • Maintain certain equipment supplies and office supply inventory.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office.
  • File department paperwork daily.
  • May attend meetings as assigned and record minutes.
  • Assists in preparation and delivery of Agenda packets for Board Meetings.
  • May be required to attend social functions such as ribbon cuttings, groundbreakings etc., which may be scheduled at other than normal work days or hours.
  • Perform other appropriate duties as required. 


General office equipment, computer, calculator, fax, copier and other office equipment.


Some unusual working hours, irregular hours or shifts, may involve occasional travel, with little or no hazard to health or body in standard conditions with adequate lighting, heating and ventilation. Little or no physical effort, requiring little movement and infrequent lifting greater than 5-25 lbs. 


Requires a high school diploma or a GED and a minimum of two (2) years experience in a related field. Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office, email and internet. Must be able to communicate effectively and posses adequate writing and grammar skills. Must be able to work with no or minimal supervision. Requires a valid Texas driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record. Prefer for individual to be bilingual.
